Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after March of the previous year.

Victory also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game chances in a close final set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
